Content and Structure
The project is divided into three parts. The first part focuses on the time before the attack, the second on the attack itself. The third part addresses the events that followed and shows how those affected processed what had happened.
Concept
The concept of the editorial project was deliberately kept very minimal. As the content itself carries significant weight, the design was intended to remain restrained and give space to the written word rather than drawing attention to itself.
At the same time, I used selected design elements to structure the reading flow and create subtle visual accents, without distracting from the content.
Pages in Negative
The pages set in negative mark the chapter about the attack from my grandfather’s perspective. As this chapter is particularly dark and intense, I visually distinguished it from the rest of the book. In this way, I aimed to make the gravity and intensity of the events perceptible through the design.
